Confidentiality

The confidentiality of individual company data is paramount to our project, as it is essential for generating meaningful and actionable outputs. Here’s customs data plays a critical role:

  • Counterparty Risk: Assessing the reliability and financial stability of trade partners.
  • Identifying Local Players: Recognizing companies that could benefit from support and development.
  • Cluster Development: Analyzing clusters of companies that can drive regional economic growth.
  • Prioritizing Support: Identifying which companies need assistance and should be prioritized for development initiatives.
  • Foreign Partner Risks: Understanding risks associated with international trade partners.
  • Compliance with Supply Chain Transparency Laws: Many countries, including the European Union, Canada, Australia, and the United States, have laws requiring transparency in supply chains. Identifying trade partners is essential for compliance with these regulations.

We already possess data from approximately 40 countries, which includes export and import details involving numerous companies. Therefore, revealing company names is part of maintaining transparency and complying with international standards. However, companies can choose to redact their information if necessary.

This project is designed to be a closed, niche initiative, targeted specifically at foreign direct investment (FDI), export promotion, and economic development agencies. The outputs are confidential and intended solely for these stakeholders, ensuring that data is used responsibly and securely.
